One-Day Medical Checkup in Germany: Is It a Fairy Tale or Reality?

The Starting Point of Your One-Day Checkup: The Initial Consultation
When we first began offering this service to international patients, the first step was always an initial consultation with a general practitioner. This is essential because the human body is a unified system, not just a collection of organs. Only a GP can assess your overall health and propose a tailored testing program.
The Modular Checkup System: LEGO for Your Health
Over time, we developed a structured system for medical checkups. Think of it like LEGO construction: there’s a core module and additional building blocks. In just one day, we can complete only the core module, which lays the foundation for your health assessment. However, even the basic module includes 8 key tests designed to check all essential health indicators.
What Does the Basic Module Include?
- Consultation with a General Practitioner
- Comprehensive Blood Test: Includes a complete blood count, biochemistry, coagulation, thyroid hormones, and additional tests recommended by your GP.
- Cardiac testing: resting ECG, ultrasound of the heart and valves
- Chest X-ray
- Thyroid Ultrasound
- Carotid Ultrasound
- Abdominal Ultrasound
- Gastroscopy
At the end of the program, your GP will meet with you again to explain the results, offer advice, and recommend any additional tests if necessary. Prescriptions will be provided, and we will assist you in purchasing them at the pharmacy.
How Does the Process Work?
Many patients ask: „Can we arrive in the morning and leave in the evening?“ Unfortunately, this is not possible. To complete all the tests in one day, we start at 8 AM. Since it’s unlikely that you will be able to arrive early enough—especially after a long flight—we recommend arriving the day before.
Arriving the evening before allows you to rest in a hotel, and at 7:30 AM, our driver will pick you up and bring you to the clinic. The goal is to ensure everything goes smoothly without stress so you can peacefully return home in the evening.
How to Get Here: Traveling to Nuremberg
Despite having a large European airport, Nuremberg doesn’t have direct flights from Russia, the USA, or the Gulf region. The closest airport with direct flights is Munich, just 170 km from Nuremberg. Thanks to the German autobahns, a comfortable drive in a quality car takes about 1.5 hours.
- Transfer from Munich Airport to Nuremberg: Our driver will meet you immediately after passport control, help with hotel check-in, and even recommend a restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious dinner in our 1000-year-old city.
Your Stay: Comfortable and Well-Organized
We will arrange your hotel accommodations in advance, from 3-star to 5-star, depending on your preferences. The evening before your checkup, the head of our patient care team will contact you to confirm the schedule and provide final instructions. In the morning, our driver will bring you to the clinic, where an interpreter will assist you throughout the day.
Why Do You Need an Interpreter?
I understand that many people say, „I speak English or even German; I don’t need an interpreter.“ While I respect this, it’s important to understand the reality of our clinic.
The Nuremberg Clinic is one of the largest healthcare centers in Germany with 35 specialized departments, from maternity wards to oncology and bone marrow transplant units. Different departments are located in separate buildings, which makes precise logistics crucial.
Our interpreter not only translates but also accompanies you to ensure that you don’t miss any scheduled tests or locations. Without this support, delays or missed appointments may occur. Our interpreter will stay with you the entire day to ensure everything runs smoothly. The cost is €357 for the full day, but considering the complexity and importance of the process, it’s well worth every penny.
After the Checkup: The Conclusion
Once your checkup is completed, you will receive a full report along with all the images and test results. If you choose not to stay in our 1000-year-old city, often called the „Gothic capital of Germany,“ we will arrange a transfer to the airport. All medical reports will be sent to you via email shortly after.
Customizing Your Checkup: Additional Options
We can also tailor the program to suit your individual needs. If desired, additional tests such as urology, gynecology, ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, and spine and joint examinations can be added to your checkup. These modules, like LEGO building blocks, allow for a flexible, personalized health assessment.
We are available every day of the week, as we work exclusively for your convenience and health.
